BIOGRAPHY: About
Since 1984, I've been working professionally as a freelance visual artist, producing various works for various projects. I've lived and worked in both Vancouver and Victoria BC.
Illustration and design projects have included: murals (interior and exterior), logos, illustrated posters, cards, book covers, children's books, cartoon characters, technical drawings, product illustration, and website design.
The illustration & graphic design projects have been done using traditional and/or digital mediums.
Traditional mediums: oil, acrylic, airbrush, felt marker, graphite, pen and ink.
Digital mediums: Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Corel Painter.
When starting my career as a 'fine artist' in 1989, I worked exclusively outside 'en plein air', producing smaller oils on canvas and wood panel. These works were representational. Frequently, I would take these small plein air pieces into the studio, and translate them into larger works.
In '92 I started producing abstract works. These paintings were influenced by the plein air landscapes I had been painting. During the 90's, subject matter would include landscapes, interiors, figurative, and still life, and the non-representational (abstraction).
Representational paintings have been done using traditional paint media, including: oil, acrylic.
Non-representational paintings have been done using traditional and/or digital paint media, including: oil, acrylic, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and Corel Painter.
I've exhibited in galleries almost every year since 1989, having had both solo, and group shows.
